Thanks, but I just found one while cleaning up the garage... have a few boxes of things kicking around.

While I'm at it, I'm missing one of the vacuum lines in the photo, what size would it be? I'll have to get some from Chris - same with the breather hose from the oil filler to the air filter - mine is split at both ends.

It looks like my bug has never had a fuel filter, so I put one on today.

However, I ran very low on gas a few days ago and now it's running rough- sounds like it's missing and stalls within seconds of hitting a red light unless i feather the gas .. And even then it wants to stall almost immediately.

I tried cleaning the idle jet but it looks ok, and still stalls... I fear something has gotten into the carb? Any other things i can try before taking it all apart?

Try taking out the idle jet and blowing through the idle passage with compressed air. Also, I've had idle jets that were plugged but for some reason appeared clear to look at. Try blowing through the jet too,

Is your cut-off solenoid getting power? Do you hear it click when you turn the key on?

Good question, i'll check that tomorrow as well.

For the idle jet, does it screw in all the way or ?

Sounds like your pilot jet has some crud in it. Item #34 on the diagram. Pull it out and make sure it's clear.

Thanks for the diagram - it appears the idle jet and pilot jet are the same thing depending on what manual I'm reading... have taken it out and it's clear.

Do they need to be replaced over time?
