So I figured I might as well make a thread about Project '59. It's a '73 that the previous owner chopped front & rear to make it look old style. Did a decent job, too. Did all the body work, painted it, and then let it sit in a driveway for about 5 or 6 years. So I picked it up and started to bring it back to life. Then I bought my oval and this thing sat for a couple of years again. But I'm back at it.

Nice to see something different from the usual slammed and rimmed theme!

Nice! I really like the offroad look, but retaining stock fenders, bumpers, etc. Is the front susp. raised a bit?

3" lift all the way around. I'm pretty happy with it.

Definitely a roof basket. I got 5 tires so I'm mounting the spare up top. I was thinking either a matte black, or olive drab. That way there'd be 2 ladies in the fleet. Coral and Olive. Still up in the air about that. (LOL! Up in the air. See what I did there?)

And those big tires give you a free "freeway flyer" gearing. Cool

I suck at updates.

So I finally got my mill back. Ported, polished, stroked, counterweighted, and that sweet exhaust.
Should be plenty torque-y to get them mud tires rollin.

It's almost in, but that last inch is fighting me. Wiggle, jiggle, jam, stuff, push, grunt, just won't go.

Man - love that car. That car is the perfect platform for this build. You nailed it for sure.

Looking forward to hearing your victory cry when you finally get the engine rammed in there.

Well done!
