well six years ago i got in touch with the second owner of the car who bought it in 55 i got all the paper work up till 67 . and then we lost touch, turns out his hard drive crashed and lost all my info.well to make it a short story he and his wife came from Syracuse NY and spent two days here while the Victoria show was on, thats why i was a no show, and had a good time looking his car over. he gave me some pics of the car from 56 and it already had the updated bumpers and lights on it at that time. he says that the car was the first VW sold in Michigan and was bought by a doctor who he meet the day he traded her in. i will try to up load them but need to scan them in some how. the seats he had recovered are still good shape and i may now keep them that way. oh yah the other shop compressor still has a hole.
well managed a trip down south, got to meet Jason from Wrenmetalwerks and got to see the 47 resto hes working on. you can see his thread on the samba. got some how to tips and templates also saw what needs to go where. later my daughter and i went to his home for a BBQ and i brought some wobbly pops and got to jump in the large in ground pool ,very warm in saco that day. on our way back we met up with Patrick at the rose-city Bug-In and he surprised us both as he pulled out of the swap meet in his 52 and took us both around Portland and down the I-5, lot of fun right there many high fives while driving.hope to be back on my build, soon as the rail buggy is finished.
