Well, five years later, the bug has come and gone and I'm starting on the body on the '64 Ghia. It's going on a '72 pan to take advantage of better handling of bj beam and irs rear.Car is now registered as an"amalgamated vehicle"Floors from the '64 were repaired and transferred to '72 pan, which is all cleaned, painted, bushhings replaced, new shocks, etc and ready to go..Seats from '65 parts car will go in.I got a Super beetle ssc trans from Chris, which has been rebuilt and beefed up a bit to take the 2332.I want the car to look bone stock, but have some serious oomph.

Be sure to find one that isn't rotten.I got mine from down south, much cheaper in the long run compared to the bodywork needed on a rustbucket.

Car is in my friends tent-shop,getting body done.Jim is a journeyman body man,but has been out of it for years.Things are quiet in the excavating business,so he took on the Ghia.Bondo-built taillight area is all metal now, buggered headlight is repaired, along with a few other battle scars.Decklid had rot along the bottom,so he grafted in a section about four inches wide, all the way across.Looks nice!He wants the car to last forever, with minimal filler.Works for me!Should be in paint before too long.
