Hey all, im looking for a shop in the Victoria area to do my fuel lines, tune up and just look over my bus before my adventure down to California. I was going to go to Hoggs and still might, but was wondering if there is someone in town that would gouge me on a price for this work. Anyone do work on the side?

Thanks in advance,
Matt

I was very happy with the pre-trip check I requested at Ellice Automotive about a year and half ago. Neil looked after my bus in great detail with an extensive checklist. Even adjusted my parking brake and showed me how to fix the turn signal return mechanism. The cost was very reasonable too. Have never used Hoggs, but Rick gets great reviews, just a trek up the Malahat.

On that note, a tune up on a bus is quite simple, a skill which can come in handy on a long trip.

Fuel lines are something you should become intimately aware of whether or not you change them yourself.

Thanks, Ive popped into hoggs a few times and chatted, seems like a great guy that wouldn't mind showing me some stuff on my bus such as changing points etc. I need to know this Smile Ive never been a carb guy so its a bit to learn, even though it much more basic the EFI. Ive heard good things about Ellice as well so maybe ill check them out.

Yes I have actually changed a few spots of my fuel lines, and aware where they run etc, relocated my fuel filter etc. But I want to get them all done properly with the proper sizes.

Sorry in advance for being so wishywoshy but has anyone been out to Daves Automotive in Sidney? That's where I park my bus and have heard good things about him in the past. It would save me a trip up the malahat!

Really wish there was a guy who did work out of his house but doesn't seem like it.

Every now and again someone posts looking for a place that will do body work and I thought I would share my experience. I have a '74 bus that I'm just putting back together after a full restoration. It was pretty clean when I started but none of the local shops would touch it. Eventually out of curiosity I went to Craftsmen Collision on old island highway totally expecting to get turned away but they said they would take it on. I stripped the bus to the nubs, got it sandblasted and they took care of the rest. As you can expect it wasn't cheap but I was thrilled with the results. Absolutely flawless work. If I had to do it all over again I would go back to them in a heartbeat.

There are some things in life where you get what you pay for and this certainly is one of them

Cheers

Mike

Hey all,

I ordered new window (all around) and front door seals for my 72 VW bus. I'd really like to find someone to put these in that isn't going to charge an arm and a leg. Any suggestions? Should I stick with a VW guy, or go with a glass shop?

Thanks in advance.

If it's the Mike (Rowbottom) I'm thinking of he used to be a VW guy. Had a shop down in California also and then moved back.Had a sweet green oval with Fittipaldi wheels a long time ago.
