okay, so my horn actually got stuck on yesterday while i was driving, and i could see sparks comming out of the gap between the wheel and the shaft thing. There was this bronze colored metal strip that seemed to be bent around and stuck up against a screw, to stop the horn from staying on i had to pull it partway out of the colume, so no it sits visible out of the gap. The horn still works, so im wondering what is that thing, and should i fix it?

...I was wondering which side the metal strip came out from...
The turnsignal switch side?
or the Wiper switch side?
I believe that it could be the canceller tab for the turn signal switch.

A vehicle needs to have a functioning horn.

To solve this,
a, repair it to original, or
b, install a horn button in another location.

the strip came out of the left side (turn signal side), i don't know anything about the canceller switch, but the horn still works now, actually it works more consistent than it did before. because it used to not not really work unless i held hte high beem switch, which doesn't work. so is it really hurting me to have this strip sticking out if the horn is still working?

You actually don't need to have a horn I don't even have a horn button and the driving tester said as long as your comfortable not having a horn it's ok

I heard that not having a horn is a safety issue. There are times when you need to alert people of your presence in a hurry.

....and people can only see you flip them off from SO far away. Smile

yeah... When I first started driving, the double cab didn't have a horn. On the day of Brad's commencement ceremony, I drove the truck and foolishly parked behind where it was taking place. Afterwards, I quickly found out there was only one road out of there, and it was flooded with people taking pictures and visiting or whatever. So to get people to move out of my way, I revved the engine, yelled out the window, and actually gently nudged a few people with my front bumper. I wish I had a horn then, but it did encourage me to fix it the next week.

Just get one of those little clown horns with the rubber squeezy ball on the end. Everyone will look at you then.
