I have a 1.9 TDI 1Z engine with a mechanical fuel pump and no ECU in a Suzuki Samurai. My boost pressure doesn't ever go above 8 or 9 psi when accelerating and is usually around 4 or 5 psi or lower when not accelerating. My wastegate is tapped in just before the intake manifold on the intercool pipe. I don't want to damage the engine, turbo or cause premature wear by increasing boost too high but would like more turbo benefits if there's room. I have read that some people get as much as 18 psi WOT and have even more than 10 psi when cruising on the highway. So is my boost low? I don't see any leaks in the IC line and if there were I would expect the turbo to be screaming because of where the wastegate is tapped in.

Any thoughts?

Yhanks!!
