Hey, I have '60 Beetle and my wipers died recently. Does anyone know the best option for replacing/repairing the motor? The car has been converted to 12V. Also, will the later model wiper, linkage and motor etc fit in a '60?

Thanks in advance!

Is there a volt drop installed to provide 6v to the wipers or were you running the 6v wipers on 12v? That will obviously lead to early failure of the motor.

Later 12v assemblies won't fit. The shafts are a different distance apart.

I have a bunch of 6v and 12v assemblies. You may be able to retro fit a 12v motor to your old assembly but will have figure out how to deal with the two speed motor switch.

I think a 67 assembly may fit, and i might have some of them too. Will need to dig. You'll still have that 2 speed bit to deal with.

So options...

- replace with another 6v assembly and ensure you have a voltage drop
- fit a 12v motor to your old assembly
- see if a 67 assembly fits

you can use the 67 assy as a drop in and wire it to you og switch for one speed only(around here i would suggest high speed) or change the switch out for the benefit of 2 speeds.

There is an armature for the motor. It seems like my linkage (or what ever it's called) may be seized. I took it to the Beetle Auto Haus today to see if they could repair the motor. I may try that '67 option if it doesn't work though.

Thanks guys! I'll let you know how it goes.

So how did it go what was the fix I went with the 67 option along with the 67 2 speed switch in my 12 volt 65 beetle straight bolt in.
