okay this is deffinitly a newbie question. Im wondering that if i wanted to partake in an event like puyallup or probably any vw event, would my bus have to be in show condition, and what does that entail? anouther question is a bus like mine ('79) even worth bringing to an event like that or is it too common, even if i get the interior fixed up (its in sad shape now)? thanks for tollerating the new guy at least for now.

There's a lot of competition at these shows but the best part of the show isn't always the cars that are entered. Most people at the Puyallup show spend just as much time out in the parking lot where people show off their cars, and sell parts instead of paying the swap/entry fees.

If you don't have a show stopper, no worries. The more VW's the better. You don't have to enter it, but it will always be a conversation piece out in the lot.

Most of us don't put the cars in the show due to the fact we usually leave before the show is over. Once you're indoors you're there for the whole show. There is nothing wrong with that but most of us have to be on the ferry home for work the next day.

The Port Angeles border cops are a*%holes, and I always worry that the stupid Coho is going to sink with me on it. "Nothing changed since 1959" should be their motto. But the drive down the Hood canal is really cool, and Port Townsend is neat too if you want to make a slight detour. I go this way every year on my way to the Oregon Country Fair.

I know what you mean.... it's worse than the Queen of Asbestos in the BC ferries fleet.

They almost always pull me over. I'm usually in a very old unrestored VW though, and the friend that I often travel with is very large and freaky looking. Last year I had to explain several times to the guy that pre 68 vehicles were NOT REQUIRED to have seatbelts. They didn't shut any of my doors properly after the search either!

I would do a little research on the spring meet. Last I heard they weren't doing it any more because they couldn't get the fair grounds. I can ask my american friends and see if it is true or not. Franklin was going to put on a show in replacement of spring meet.
