Does anyone know what the stock air cleaner for my 68 convertible would be? I'm missing mine and not exactly sure what it should be like.
thanks for any info

I'm not 100% on this one, but I believe that it is an oval shaped oil bath with a snout on both sides.

I've seen pics of that unit, but also a single sided one where the spout is on the passenger side. I don't know if it has anything to do with the rain catcher unit that's attached to the deck lid, and how it all fits together?

68 convertable and sedan should have the same cleaner. The rain catcher is formed around the air cleaner, not the other way around. The tube on the bottom of the passenger side snout goes attaches to a hose tha goes through the rear tin and attaches to a peice of steel tube down near the pushrod tubes. I'm not sure what year they stopped using it, but some models had a cable that goes from the pre-heat flaps to the flap on the air cleaner.

So i've seen these two styles on a 68 convert.... (at least two so far) you'd suggest the single sided item? Any other 68 owners who might have an idea, i'd appreciate your input before I start the search through the wreckers!

Hey I have both air cleaners in my garage. I must add that the single side one is not exactly as your picture shows. The single sided one is circular and not oval and has a smaller warm air fitting on the side. Let me know how your search turns out.

I'm not positive but I think the double sided is a 67 one year only.

I agree. 68 should be single sided and have a cable going to the back of the fan housing from the pre heater flap. they were the same up to 71 or so.

The 2 snout style was for '67 but was also used on early '68s.
