Good evening VVWC, by way of introduction my name is Calum and I have just purchased my latest VW from a fellow club member. I am hoping that by posting some pictures and info up, someone in the club may be able to fill in the gaps of this bus's local history.

From my research so far (looking up the M-Codes, Engine and VI numbers), I have found out the following:

Model
-Microbus / Microbus L (Model 221)
-LHD, Sliding door Right
-Seven seater, seat arrangement 2-2-3

Model year
1969, date of manufacture; 20-Sep-1968

Engine
1600cc single port, single carb - numbers correct for era.

Optional Extras

-M 056 Steering Lock
-M 121 Two electric ventilators in fresh air system
-M 208 ??Vehicle with trailer??
-M 507 Vent Windows in Cab
-M 044 ??Electric heated rear window??
-M 119 Eberspacher BN4 independent rear heater
-M 525 Seatbelts for USA/Canada

Paint (Original colours)
Body and roof; Lotus White (L282)

Interior
Gala Red, Leatherette

Destination Country
Canada, Vancouver.

Initially I had though that this may have originally been an east coast bus, considering the condition of the bottom 6-12", however finding out that it is a local BC van makes this even more special for me.

At the moment I am leaning more towards getting the bodywork done in a shop, rather then taking it on myself, as I am busy man with a young family. But I would only take it to a shop if I knew they were going to do a good job. Can anyone recommend anywhere??

I will post some pictures up shortly.

Welcome!

There's a link with most of the local shops listed. Some of the earlier ones may be a bit dated, but most are still active.
