Went to run my new engine today. Started instantaneously! However, two oil leaks, one from cooler (a gusher, bad seal) the second leak, a small split on a push rod tube! My question, has anyone ever used the replacement spring loaded tubes? What are the best kind to use? Any input is much appreciated. Engine is now out and on the bench. Thanks!

Ive got the jay cee tubes on my race car and the are still dry, that said Ive never had any luck with most other brands.although they always came in handy in my dune buggy/sand rail days when rocks and branches would eat em up. cant seem to get good factory ones anymore, i always stretch them out and use the good silicone seals instead of the cheezy ones that come in the gasket box Rolling Eyes

Thanks Mitch. I've decided to replace all the push rod tubes with a good quality spring loaded set. I don't want to pull the heads to replace one tube or just install one spring loaded tube, that would just look bad.

Did you try spinning them first to try and seal?

the jaycee items can be installed after the head, they are spring loaded just good quality and less likely to leak.

Actually, the split is in the tube, not the seal.

I've opted for the "Scat" spring loaded tubes from CIP1. Good reviews and on sale!
