Well I got my first Beetle. I bought it for my daughter but she's only 7 right now so this could be a long build.

First of all I want to thank Greg and Andrew for the help......these guys make it look easy when picking up cars.

At first glance of the car it looked like a regular blue bug....until I started looking around at beetles made in '72 and a few of these blue ones stood out. As I researched it some more it seemed that this car had some weird stuff on it like the wheels. I asked Johnny what the where and he said they were Marathon's. Sure enough , they were and then looked into what cars they where on etc. I think they are pretty rare and even rarer are the centre caps. The official name of the wheels are "Lemmerz Marathon".

The car's info can be found here http://www.sebeetles.com/champion/ along with pics of what it looked like leaving the assembly line.

This wont be a body off restoration as the funds are not there but I'll have some fun making it road worthy and tinkering away. As for stuff I've come across that doesn't work.....the list goes like this:

-no brakes
-no lights
-no signals
-no wipers (rusted arms and pivots)
-wrong air cleaner
-wrong distributor (needs a DVDA)
-rusted front MacPherson strut
-no 4 ways
-pass door a little stiff to open
-missing washer bottle

Good stuff:

-has all the wheels and centre caps
-badge on glove box
-car is one of 1000 built. Rare ?
-it rolls
-Formula Vee steering wheel
-door buzzer still works

I've grabbed a few things from Andrew , Clay and Chris at Speedway so it's better now with a little time and effort put into her.
