The Fasty has been back in daily service for the last couple of months, and there is not much to report. Nothing has gone wrong and I am still enjoying driving it everyday to work. Eventually those rotten fenders will be replaced, but with other projects in the way, that will be awhile in the future yet. For now, just enjoying the drive...

Sooo, the Fasty continued to give regular reliable service until the fall of 2016. I then took it off the road to give it some overdue attention.

Yes it was time to deal with those rotting fenders.

First impressions were good, with only one broken bumper bolt to deal with.

A closer inspection revealed rust in the strengthen panels. This was expected.

And this is why. The engineering dorks at VW left this nice opening in the top between the reinforcement panel and the inner structure. Right in the line of fire for muck from the front wheel. Duh.

The rust that has to be cut out is going to be very tricky.

Because of this, the project has stalled out for now, but hopefully will get some attention this spring. We will see...
