Hi guys. I own a 1973 beetle. 1600 DP. The engine has had a stumble for the last several years. It has a mechanical dist. and an S& S header on it. I've had it to Elice, and the Autohaus. Does anyone know someone who really knows how to find problems with an engine, and how to fix said problem. When you start out in first is stumbles and when driving along I can feel it sort of hit flat spots. Its really starting to p o me off.

Let me guess, it has a 34 PICT-3 carburator? Sounds like the standard 009 / 34 PICT-3 hesitation. Get an SVDA (Bosch 205) distributor to replace your 009 and the stumble will be gone.

Your right Devon. Seems to be a common problem with this combination. Noticed on other forums, the same complaints. When I cash in my empties, I'll buy one of those Distributers. Best place to buy one in Victoria ??? Shocked
