Suggestion: I see you posted road trips, but if your going off the beaten path, carry a jerry can or two.

Answer: anything is possible.

Dont take the "it" out of the "Split".

Hey Ifit I fail to see your point. The old tank was coming out for bodywork anyhow, and I get a good 70 miles greater range with an upgrade which no one will notice. While I am making great efforts to bring my bus back to it's former 'glory', including original correct paint colours and even a NOS vintage radio, usability (if that is such a word) and safety are high priorities for me. So, while I personally prefer a reasonably stock bus, I have no problems adding such items as electronic ignition, upgraded brakes, modern radial tyres...and yes even an extra 5 gallons of gas Very Happy

I am planning on doing this to my bus, would you be able to make some sort of plan... or if you already have a plan, would I be able to get a copy off you?

Oh... and ignore Mike.... hes running a 009 and booster fans... he already took the "it" out of the Split

well, it is your bus, and do with it what you will... Just wondering why thats all... new splitty tank $130.

if you want more, why not get a custom tank made? Im sure you could add a few litres to that.

Upgraded brakes? Thats been a thought of mine as well. Are you thinking of installing discs? Theres many disc conversion kits, but mainly for dune buggys, Safety an issue, i dont know if i would go that route.

Are you going to keep stock height?

Greg er Grag, at least my van will be on the road... P.S. -you dont have to add the S.H. to it.

Laughing

Actually, you can get a new split-window fuel tank from Bus Depot for $90. The Bay tank fits in the same space as the splitty tank, you just have to use the splitty filler neck. I already have the Bay tank and everything is out of the bus anyhow, so the mod is a no-brainer IMHO.

I'll be keeping the drum brakes but will be adding a home-built remote vacuum servo system.

I'm keeping the bus at stock height with stock tranny.

If I can find a donor filler neck this one will be surplus to my needs. I don't wanna cut up a god one.
